National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Chevy Chase and his goofball Griswold family deliver laugh-out-loud gags by the second in this classic sequel to National Lampoon’s European Vacation that sees the family gather round for a flurry of festive season nightmares.

Whacking out gag after gag, this third in the series to the 80s comedy cracker is considered by many to be the best of the bunch. Written by John Hughes, the very same writer behind such cinematic classics as Home Alone, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and The Breakfast Club, it is one of the funniest festive film you’ll ever see.

Wall E

Disney and masters of animation Pixar have done it again, crafting a funny, heart-warming and touching tale of a garbage disposal robot by the name of Wall-E in the year 2700. When the earth is no longer inhabitable, Wall-E and his robotic friends are sent in to clean up the millions of mountains of rubbish accumulated over the years.

We meet Wall E when all the other robots have broken down, leaving him as the only remaining robot on the planet along with his pet cockroach, Spot. Soon, his everyday life is disrupted when a visitor from afar lands, kick-starting an epic tale that sees the little guy head off on a mission across the galaxy for will forever change the course of history. 

The Dark Knight 

Picking up where Batman Begins left off, The Dark Knight, played by Christian Bale, continues the filmic reinvention of the DC Comics Caped Crusader as he teams with Gary Oldman’s Lieutenant Jim Gordon and Aaron Eckhart’s District Attorney Harvey Dent to dismantle the remaining criminal organisations polluting the streets of Gotham City.

Just when they seem to get a handle on cracking down on the hardened criminal organization, the team are confronted with their greatest adversary to date, The Joker. Brilliantly played by Heath Ledger in his award winning performance, this is the darkest and most daring Batman film to date on Blu-ray Disc packed with plenty of behind the scenes secrets.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Enter an extraordinary world filled with magic and wonder in Tim Burton’s fantastical festive film. Set in the land of Halloween Town, The Nightmare Before Christmas sees Jack Skellington captivated by the wonder of the festive season. In his attempt to spread joy and wonder to the world, he unwittingly puts Santa Claus in jeopardy, creating a nightmare for all the boys and girls the world over.

A fantasy filled stop-motion animation film, The Nightmare Before Christmas comes on a Blu-ray Disc packed with extras that includes heaps of deleted and extended scenes, a making-of, director’s commentary and a whole lot more.

Wanted

More comic book action for the festive season with Angelina Jolie and Scottish actor James McAvoy in the adaption of the action-packed, hard-hitting graphic novel of the same name. McAvoy is an everyman until a visit from Jolie’s femme fatale Fox drops him into a world of secret assassins, slow-mo gunplay and bullet-bending bad guys that are out of this world.

Directed by visionary Russian filmmaker Timor Bekmambetov, famed for his epic vampire movies, Night Watch and Day Watch, Wanted is a non-stop adrenaline rush that will have you hooked from start to bullet riddled finish.

Hancock

There are heroes, there are superheroes and then there is Will Smith’s Hancock, a superhuman with a laundry list of problems. Brilliantly played by the Fresh Prince himself, Hancock is an edgy, sarcastic and deeply conflicted superhero who, despite getting the job done, leaves nothing but chaos in his path each time he thwarts the bad guys.

The public have had enough and want Hancock gone but when he saves the life of PR guru Ray Embrey (played by Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman), the down and out superhero find himself on the other end of a PR makeover as he tries to find his place in a world that doesn’t want him. The Blu-ray Disc comes with a digital copy of the film that can be transferred to your PSP for movies on the go along with a host of behind the scenes material.

The Matrix Trilogy

One of the biggest selling DVDs of all times has come to High Definition Blu-ray Disc with a bang. The Matrix movies redefined the action movie genre and were made for watching on your PLAYSTATION 3. A mix of gunplay, science fiction, kung fu and comic books, The Matrix Trilogy features all three groundbreaking, box office smashing films that tell the story of Neo and his war against the machines in a future overrun by robots that have humans trapped inside an artificial world.

This triple pack comes with commentaries on all three films, The Matrix Revisited feature length behind the scenes documentary that charts the first film’s production from inception to worldwide critical acclaim, as well as a documentary on the PlayStation 2 game, Enter The Matrix. Other extras include 83 featurettes, music videos and three hours of music from the films.
