Sony has announced (via ThreeSpeech) that the SingStarPS3 backwards compatability patch is on its way very soon. Tomorrow, in fact. The patch, which will allow you to switch between PS3 and PS2 SingStar discs without quitting the game. It's a feature that's been highly anticipated and which was announced at the Leipzig Game Convention this year.
The patch will arrive on December 16th at 10am GTM (EST +5) and will be automatically downloaded when you start up the game. Not only will this remove those awkward atmospheric lulls during parties, but it should add My SingStar Online functionality to the entire SingStar back catalog.
