Scaling Resistance

Ted Price narrates a walkthrough of the new Resistance 2 footage from E3 2008, explaining the development process behind the stunning new scenes revealed.

Resistance 2 is all about scale, from eight player co-op and 60 player competitive modes to the expansive environments and sheer scale and quantity of the beasts you will encounter.

Discussing this focus, Ted Price CEO talks about the Leviathan, 300 feet of Chimera killing machine, and how developer Insomniac tackled the difficulties of creating large characters that are believable both at a distance and up close.

This focus on scale is also evident in the eerily silent Chimeran fleets systematically destroying American cities, with Resistance 2 boasting incredible levels of detail combined with outstanding draw distances. Resistance 2 has graphically built upon the original game with new lighting techniques and an animation technique that utilises motion capture for both cutscenes and in-game action.

This has enabled, as Ted Price attests, the creation of a film-like feel to Resistance 2 that supports this focus on scale and provides a greater emphasis of storytelling.

See how Resistance 2 is redefining the scales of play.
