Gush to the music

Check out Gush, the group behind some of the latest Movement music videos available from PLAYSTATION Store.

With their multi-instrumental skills, Gush consider themselves as four MCs, rather than identifying themselves with traditional roles, instead letting their music do the talking.

Composed of two brothers of Swiss origin, Xavier (bass, vocals) and Vincent (drums, vocals), and two cousins, British-born Yan (guitar, vocals) and Mathieu (guitar/keyboards, vocals), of Venezuelan descent, Gush keeps it in the family. They're working on their first album, due for release in 2009.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard it before?

Harmonised tidal waves.

Who are your musical influences?

From the Beatles to the Beastie Boys, from Funkadelic to AC/DC, from Fela to Beck.

What subjects do you tackle in your lyrics?

Sex, spiritual quests, exorcism, ego...

Your music is available for download from PLAYSTATION Store. How are the Internet and downloads changing the face of the music industry?

The music industry's starting to change indeed thanks to the Internet but the major companies are still reluctant to deal with it. We hope the Internet will be the great saviour or cure for the future of the industry. We love the Internet.

What do you think of the general perception of music from France?

Often seen as romantic, clean and elitist but the country's more open to on the world thanks to the French touch phenomenon and we're trying to take advantage of that new situation. We wanna rock the whole world.

Are you touring this year or playing at any festivals?

We're recording an album so we won't be going to any summer festivals.

Gush's Movement videos can be downloaded from PLAYSTATION Store. More about Gush can be found on their MySpace page, myspace.com/wearegush.
